How to donate

Steps:

  1. Due to the fact it may take months or years after registering to actually go about the process of donating stem cells, the first step is to make sure your health is up to order in a Canadian Blood Services health screening
  2. A nurse will contact you through the information you provided and set you up with an information session over the phone
  3. The Canadian Blood Services will then arrange for you to come into the nearest clinic so they can do a blood test to make sure there are no pathogens.
  4. The next step is to do a physical examination given by doctors to make sure you are fit to donate stem cells.
  5. After you have been fully cleared to donate stem cells you have to ensure you are ready through a consent form.
  6. Once everything checks out, you will go to a Canadian Blood Services clinic, which luckily for us there is one right in Victoria, located on 3449 Saanich rd.
  7. Once you have arrived, you will then donate your stem cells and afterwards they will be transported to a hospital where they will save lives!
